What Does a Tightness Test Involve?

1. The section to be tested is identified and its volume is calculated.
2. Appliances are isolated and a calibrated gauge is connected.
3. The pipework is pressurised and left to stabilise.
4. The pressure is monitored over a period based on the volume and the gauge.
5. Any drop is compared with the limit in IGEM/UP/1 or IGEM/UP/1A.
6. The result is recorded and a certificate is issued.

If the test fails, the leak is traced and repaired, and the test is repeated.
